Why SMEs should enter business awards

Although every business in the room wants to win the Award, there can only be one winner on the night and yet the saying ‘It’s not the winning but the taking part that counts’ is also true of entering business awards.

For a start just completing the entry form gives business owners a chance to reflect on what they have achieved over the last few years, to see just how far they have come and which bits of their business have been the most successful. When you spend all the hours you can working on your business, it’s easy to forget about the achievements.

Entering an Award can be motivational for the staff. Engage them in the judging process, keep them informed of how your entry is progressing and if you get to win, make sure you shout about it to your staff. You could even take them along to the Awards ceremony to share your success on the night.

The benefits of being a winner are only just beginning when you win that trophy. Whether it’s increasing awareness or finding new contacts, winning a business award can open doors for local businesses. You can use the images and share the news on social media, in PR and in news posts and blogs on your website. You can write about it in your customer newsletters, use it on email footers, on invoice messages and more.

Winning really is just the beginning, but to win you have to enter so look out for local business awards or trade awards and give it a go….you never know, you might just win!
